You are your Password
Over the recent weeks we have seen a significant increase in cyber-attacks. Today, 95% of all attacks exploit human weakness, negligence or simply bad habits. Effort to success ratio for these types of attacks are much higher for the attacker as they don’t need many advanced IT skills but a good understanding of how people work and some basic social engineering skills.
Below are some tips
- Avoid any and all means of recording your password. Everything from writing down passwords on paper (notepads, diaries, etc) to saving electronically in browsers, or electronic notepads, forwarding to personal emails, saving on private computers used by other family members. Access to company information through your account is for you only, please refrain from sharing your passwords with other staff and family members.
- Make sure all your accounts (Gmail, iCloud, Etc.) have strong passwords with Multi Factor Authentication Enabled. By default, they are not.
- Any emails you receive that requests you to enter your email address and password, please exercise caution when opening these and if you are unsure whether it is legitimate or not, forward the email to our team so we can inspect the email in question.
- It is a thousand times easier for an attacker to cause damage once they are on the inside of the network using anyone's password. It is unlikely that you will notice suspect activity on your account as a lot of the time, the intruders hide their actions very well. If you suspect your password is compromised, please call support immediately and mark it is as URGENT.
- Develop good password habits around you and your family. On the Internet, you are your password.
- Never use the same password in different places. Use complex passwords using a mixture of letters, numbers, capital letters and symbols.
- Always pay attention to and read what's on the screen before you click.
- When in doubt always Deny Multi-Factor Authentication prompts. Don't click yes out of habit. If this has occurred, tell us urgently.
- Your password is the key to all your work. To safeguard your password is your own responsibility
